Video Ads Are Not Just for The Internet

There’s a lot of attention being paid to video ads these days, as more and more websites are launching with the kind of content that audiences demand. From news to comedy, to sports and even their favorite television shows, it is undeniable that the platform for online video ads is gaining ground, and becoming a crucial way to keep content free for users. But the greatest indicator that online video ads will remain vital is not necessarily the obvious – it comes down to the mobile phone that is tucked away in your pocket.
A recent study by 4th Screen Advertising's Adlndex for Mobile research, conducted by Dynamic Logic, indicated that 88 percent of mobile phone users would watch pre roll advertising on their mobile phone prior to the content they have downloaded. Even better, 59 percent of the participants felt the ads made them more interested in the brands being advertised, and 62 percent had an overall good impression of the brands as well. And this is for technology that is currently much slower than your desktop or laptop computer, with much smaller screens.
This study is a great sign for video ads because it points out the potential longevity for content that is deliverable via non-traditional broadcasting terms. Audiences are open to ads, even in the smallest of displays – so the next time you’re watching video ad sponsored content on sites like NBCOlympics.com, hulu.com, or the upcoming TheWB.com, remember that this is just the beginning. You will soon be carrying video ads around with you – literally - in the time to come.
